Professor Dr. Md. Motiar Rahman was born in Dumuria, Khulna, Bangladesh in 1952. He received his primary education from Madrasa (Religious School) and his secondary and higher secondary education from Dumuria High School and Government B.L. College, Daulatpur, Khulna respectively. He obtained his MBBS degree in 1977 from Dhaka Medical College where he secured 6th and 10th place in the 2nd and Final Professional MBBS Examinations of Dhaka University respectively. He received his FRCS degree from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeon sat Glasgow, UK in the year 1986.

He is the Founder and Chairman of Qur’an Research Foundation, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Islamic Research and Dawah are his present preferred activities. To date he has published 33 research papers on fundamental matters of Islam in booklet form. There is big difference between His findings and the present knowledge and activities of the Muslims. He regularly gives lectures in television and radio on his research subjects.

He is currently the Head of the Department of Surgery at Dhaka National Medical College and Hospital and is the most experienced surgeon in laparoscopic gall stone operation in Bangladesh. He is the Founder, Director or Chairman in number of educational institutions, hospitals and welfare organizations.
